  • My ComedyBook

    • What is My ComedyBook?

      My ComedyBook is the only online tool of it's kind for comedians. Our goal is to make comics and their shows easy to find for comedy fans, event coordinators, agents, and press.

      We allow comedians to have control over their profiles and keep their online presence up-to-date.

      Ultimately, we are a service that helps comedians get booked for live shows, media appearances, and corporate events.
    • Why is My ComedyBook a better way to promote my comedy than other social media websites?

      My ComedyBook was made specifically for comedians. We have a narrower audience that is super saturated with venue owners, comedy lovers, and event coordinators. It can be really difficult to expose yourself to the right people using other methods. My ComedyBook brings your target market to you.
    • What are the specifications for the video that I upload?

      My ComedyBook plays back your videos at 480p to prevent buffering problems for your viewers. Videos of larger resolution will be resized. Accepted file types include .mp4, .mpg, .mov, .avi. Files much be less than 100mb in size. Videos longer than 3 minutes will be cropped.
    • How do I add a comedian that doesn't have a My ComedyBook profile to my event?

      Type the comedian's name into the text box and click the Add button. Their photo will not be added to the event page, but their name will. You can then choose to enter this comedian's e-mail address so that we can e-mail them to let them know about the listing. We will not spam this comedian, but they will have the option to join My ComedyBook so that their photo and profile will be added to the event page.
  • Videos

    • How long should my video be?

      Your stand-up videos should be no longer than 3 minutes or else it will be cropped. This is meant to be a preview for people who are interested in booking you. You want to show off your best work, catch their interest and leave them wanting more!
    • Can I upload a video that isn't stand-up?

      We highly recommend that you upload a video of yourself doing stand-up comedy. This will give potential employers the best idea of what you have to offer for corporate events and shows. Think of it as an audition tape. My ComedyBook comedians have a better chance of getting booked when they have a video that is stand-up. If you choose to upload a different type of funny video, make sure it complies with our User Guidelines.
    • How do I upload a video?

      Once you have signed up, you will be taken to a page that allows you to upload your video.

      If you already have an account, click Manage Account in the top navigation, then My Videos.

      From here click the Browse button to select a video that you have saved on your computer. It will then upload and you can leave the page. Your video will now be converting which can take between a few minutes to an hour to convert. After it is converted, it will be live on your profile.
    • What is video swapping?

      Rather than purchasing an additional video, if you have a Headliner package you can Swap your video once per month. Your old video will be deleted and replaced with the fresh video you have uploaded.
    • When can I swap my video?

      As part of your package, you can swap your video once per month if you are a Headliner. To see if your video is eligible to be swapped, click on Manage Account in the top navigation, then My Videos. Find the video in the list on the left side of the page and click Swap underneath the video capture icon. You will either be able to swap your video immediately, or it will tell you the date that you can.
    • How do I delete my video?

      To delete a video, click on Manage Account in the top navigation, then My Videos. Find the video in the list on the left side of the page and click Delete underneath the video capture icon.

      Be sure before you delete a video because there will be no way to recover it once it is deleted.
    • How many videos can I upload?

      Your My ComedyBook profile comes with 1 video upload. You can purchase up to two additional videos. You will be charged a one-time, $5 fee for each additional upload.
    • How can I upload additional videos?

      During the sign-up process, you can specify if you would like additional videos.

      If you already have an account, you can click Manage Account in the top navigation, then My Videos. In the video list on the left side of the page, you will see how many videos you can purchase. Click the + Video button. Browse for a video on your computer and it will begin uploading. After it has completed uploading, click the Check Out button on the bottom of the page.

      Your video will not be live on your profile until you make your payment. You will be charged a one-time fee of $5 for each additional video upload.
    • How do I share my video on Facebook and Twitter?

      Anyone, including yourself, can click the Facebook Like and Tweet buttons at the bottom of the video player on your My ComedyBook profile page. From here, Facebook and Twitter will take you through the standard steps of sharing your video.
    • My video is too big, how do I make it small enough to upload?

      You probably already have one of the following applications on your computer: Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, Miro Video Converter, Handbrake, VLC, or WinFF. Any of these programs make it easy to crop and convert your video files.
  • Events

    • How do I create an event?

      First, if you haven’t already, create a ComedyBook.

      Then, click on Add Event from the Manage Account drop-down menu at the top right side of the page. Or, click the Add Event button on the right hand side of your profile page that you get to by clicking your name in the top navigation.

      Once there, fill out all of the information in the form and hit the Save button. After you have done this, you will be able to upload an image and add performers to your event. Do this and then hit the Save button at the bottom of the page.
    • Why should I choose a region for my event?

      Choose the region that your show’s venue is in. If you have a Headliner package, this event will show up on the front page of My ComedyBook for people who live in that region.
    • What image should I upload to my event?

      We suggest that you upload a flyer for your event that showcases the comedians. Otherwise you can upload an image of the venue. Your image will be cropped to 330 x 440px so it’s best to upload an image that is longer horizontally. Your image will be resized and cropped to fit these dimensions. Make sure that your image complies with our User Guidelines.
    • How do I add a comedian to my event?

      Search for a comedian by typing their name into the text box underneath Add a Performer. When the correct name appears, click the Add button. This comedian will be added to your event immediately and informed of this. Then, they can either confirm or reject the listing on their profile page.
    • How do I post my event on my Facebook page or Twitter feed?

      Click on the Twitter or Facebook Like button at the top of your event page. Twitter or Facebook will then take you through the steps of sharing your event with your Facebook friends or Twitter followers.
    • How do I remove myself from a show that someone else has posted?

      If you have been added to an event that you will not be performing at, you can easily delete yourself from the line-up. Once you are signed in, click on your name in the navigation at the top of the page. Now you will be on your profile page. On the right side of the page, under Requests, you will see the events that you have been added to. Click 'Deny' to be removed from the event.
    • How do I edit my event?

      Once you are signed in, click on your name in the navigation at the top of the page. On the right side of the page, you will see the events that you have created. Click on the event that you would like to change, and then click the Edit button at the bottom of that page. From here you will be able to change any of the event details.
  • Regions

    • What is a Region?

      Each region is a state in the USA or a province in Canada.
    • How do the regions work?

      My ComedyBook determines which region you are in when you visit our website. We then customize the content based on where you are. We feature videos for you, post your local comedy events, and tell you which comedians in your area are getting the most laughs and views on their videos.

      For a comedian with a My ComedyBook, the regions control how you are displayed on our main page. Everyone with an account is eligible to be shown on the front page under Most Laughs and Most Views for their regions. Headliners can have their events shown on the front page for the region that the show is in, provided they have chosen that region.

      When you create a ComedyBook you are given 1 region. This is by default the region that you live in. You can change these regions at any time. You can choose up to 6 regions.
    • How much do regions cost?

      You can choose up to 6 regions for free!
    • How do I choose/change/add regions?

      When you sign up for your My ComedyBook account, you will be taken through a step which allows you to choose your regions.

      If at any time you would like to add, change, or delete regions you can do so by signing in, clicking Manage Account in the navigation at the top of the page, and choosing Change Regions.
  • Video Player

    • What is a laugh?

      By clicking the laugh button underneath the video player on a comedian's page, you are letting them know that you think their stand-up video is funny. If a comedian gets the most laughs, their video gets published to the front page of MyComedyBook.com!
    • What is a flag?

      By clicking the flag button underneath the video player on a comedian's page, and filling out the form, you are notifying the staff at My ComedyBook of inappropriate video content. Please only flag videos that do not meet our User Guidelines or are of serious concern. Our staff will then review the content and remove it if we find it does not meet our User Guidelines.
    • How are views counted?

      The views that a person sees when they visit your My ComedyBook profile are the total views of all of your videos combined. If you delete a video, your previous views will not be deleted. We also keep track of each individual video's views. This you can see when you are signed in to My ComedyBook from your My Videos page.
  • Account

    • What do I do if I forget my password?

      No problem! Simply enter the e-mail address that you used to sign up here and we will send you a password.
    • How do I change my password?

      Once you're signed in, click on Manage Account in the top navigation, and choose Account Settings. Here you can enter your password twice to confirm the password change.
    • How do I change my e-mail?

      Once you're signed in, click on Manage Account in the top navigation, and choose Account Settings. Here you can change the e-mail address that we contact you by.
    • How do I delete my account?

      Once you're signed in, click on Manage Account in the top navigation, and choose Account Settings. Click on the Delete Account button on the bottom of the page to delete your account. We encourage you to contact us to discuss your decision before you delete your account. We may have better solutions for you!
    • Can I change my username?

      No, your username is permanent because it dictates the URL of your profile.
    • What currency do you charge in?

      For our advertising fees, our customers can choose whether to pay in U.S. or Canadian dollars.
